Seasonal must-haves like sandals and trainers are back, but this time in eye-catching colors and with extra chic details. Style expert Melissa Garcia stopped in TODAY with Hoda and Jenna to break down some of the hottest Spring 2022 shoe trends for women, men and kids.
From strappy heels to trendy clogs, keep reading to find out which shoes you’ll be seeing everywhere this season.
Spring 2022 shoe trends
Garcia called this choice the “perfect blend” of high comfort. Despite the chunky sole, it still manages to look stylish, making it a great option for anyone heading back to the office. The lilac color is trending for spring and can easily be paired with everything from pants to dresses.
A pair of classic flats also deserves a place in your wardrobe. These flats have a memory foam insole and sponge padding in the heel to help you avoid scrapes and blisters, according to the brand. For those with wider feet, the brand recommends taking one size up.
The clogs have a ’70s-inspired feel and never really went out of fashion, says Garcia. The cream color is light enough to pair with virtually anything, but it’s also available in brown, black and nude beige if you’re looking to switch things up.
Although these clogs are an investment, Garcia says they will stand the test of time – she’s owned her pair for more than five years. A style tip from Garcia: pair them with something unexpected, like pants. Or, you can keep it casual with jeans and a t-shirt.
Crocs Women’s Classic Platform Clogs
Don’t forget the clog that remains trendy: Crocs. This style embraces the platform trend without sacrificing comfort, plus it features sturdy straps designed to hold your feet in place.
While the sluffer shoe was the unexpected shoe trend of winter 2022, it’s time to swap it for the spring version: the cushion sandal. This pair from H&M has puffy straps and faux leather insoles to make every step more comfortable, according to the brand.
According to Garcia, this season is all about the bulky platform. Garcia says these sandals from Seychelles are ideal for the weekend as they are also comfortable.
Garcia says this isn’t your average wedge – the dual straps make them elevated and the shoe’s architectural construction makes them even classier. These wedges help distribute weight evenly across your foot, making them comfortable to wear throughout the day, Garcia added.
While you might imagine ways to wear these sandals with dresses, Garcia also likes to wear them with cropped jeans. The strappy design is sexy and can easily dress up any outfit, Garcia said.
If you’ve had your eye on any of the main runways this season, you’ve probably seen towering platform shoes make an appearance. These Steve Madden pumps echo what you may have seen during Fashion Week and Garcia says the stacked platform is a great way for petite women to add height to their look.
Nine West Yippie Wrap Ankle Heeled Sandals
With a slightly higher heel, these sandals from Nine West can be reserved for parties this spring. You can also find them in colors like yellow and pink, all on sale.
Shop for guys
Retro sneakers are making a comeback! Garcia picked this pair for the guys to refresh their current lineup while still staying on trend.
These sneakers not only have a retro look, but they are also made from recycled materials, says the brand. It’s an eco-friendly upgrade to the already iconic Stan Smith sneaker.
Kicks for children
Cute, durable and easy: These slip-on shoes tick all the boxes, according to Garcia. They are lightweight and come in several fun colors that can brighten up their wardrobe.
For warmer spring days, this water-friendly style is a smart option. Kids who like to play outside right after spring showers don’t have to worry about ruining a new pair of shoes. Plus, they’re washable and odor resistant.
